Why on earth would I want to reread the same scenes seven times! It was torture. My review/observations: 1) Samantha's story was bad enough the first time. Imagine my dismay when the moment finally arrives and instead of dying, she awakens to her alarm clock. I hated Sam and her friends from day one, and I know that was the point, but by the time I got to chapter two, I was looking forward to her dying.

It took me several attempts to get through this book. It also made me think a lot about the timing and impact of simple events. The story made me think a lot about people and how there is always more going on than what's on the surface.

I've never listened to a narration with such perfect settle emotions.ĭid you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry? Which character – as performed by Sarah Drew – was your favorite? I love the things that she learns and thinks about as the story progresses. The listener can go on the journey with her and see how she changes with each day. By learning about all their true nature she ultimately discovers herself and what was important in life. The best part of the story was Sam discovering who everyone is on a deeper level by getting small glimpses into their personal lives. What did you love best about Before I Fall?

It is more then credit-worthy.Ī powerful story with the perfect narrator. It's fantastic, beautiful, lovely, wonderful. Third: how I couldn't stop thinking about this book after I was finished with it. She was so good that I will purchase other audio books in which she is the narrator. Sarah Drew's performance really did this book justice-she's the perfect fit. This book, combined with the fantastic/flawless performance by Sarah Drew resulted in the ultimate listening experience. Second: the fact that this audio book left me breathless more times then I can count. It is well worth having and will listen to it over and over again. That being said, I'll never regret purchasing the audio book format. I loved all of it so much I couldn't help but run out and purchase a hardback copy of this book immediately after I finished listening to the audio book, so I might reread the many beautiful passages contained in the book as many times as I'd like without having to rewind. The descriptions, storyline, character development: beautiful. First off, this book is incredibly well written-I love this. I would recommend this story, but only for a 15+ audience!Īt first glance Before I Fall seems to be a typical YA novel about a teenage girl and her journey toward self-discovery, but it didn't take long for me to realize it is so much more. She is also very expressive and a joy to listen to. The narrator sounds very young and fits this role perfectly. Not only does this story offer some great messages, it is also very entertaining. Lauren Oliver writes this in a way that is very human and believable and it feels like she may be drawing from some of her own past experiences. The main character is forced to re-live the same day over again, and in this process, discovers some great insights into how her and her friends actions impact those around them. Despite the "older audience" themes, this story did offer some great life lessons. Nevertheless, I decided to give this book a chance on my own, mainly because I didn't want to waste a credit, and was very happy that I did. There are far too many references regarding drugs/drinking and sex (and not in a don't do them sort of way). We didn't even make it through ten minutes before I realized that this was not going to be an appropriate choice for her. I originally purchased this story for my twelve year-old daughter and I to listen to together.
